What? This 50 Minute Workshop focuses on how to interact with a friend, classmate, colleague, or employee in crisis and direct them to resources. CMU's Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) will discuss the stigma around mental health and suicide as well as provide students the opportunity to develop mental health first aid skills.

Why? According to the CDC, death by suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for those 15 - 34, and the 10th leading cause of death overall. Mental health issues affect everyone, and by virtue of the illness, individuals often cannot advocate for themselves. Like physical health issues, they also have an economic impact. Mentally healthy employees are more likely to be productive and less likely to leave their job. As human beings and future managers, it's important to learn how to approach mental health issues.

When? Tuesday, February 19, at 12:30 P.M.
